Here is short step by step how to create and remove (delete) voice mail for a user on Nortel PBX system.
Note: The programming must be done from any M7310, T7316, M7324 Nortel phone
Logging to the System Administration:
- Press FEATURE button
- Enter 983
- Display shows LOG
- Enter your login password
a. If your company extensions are 2 digits long enter "120000" b. If your company extensions are 3 digits long enter "1020000" c. If your company extensions are 4 digits long enter "10020000"
- Press the soft key under “OK” on display
- Now you should be in System Administration mode for administering the voicemail
Create a new Mailbox
- Once you are logged in the System Administration
- Select the soft key under “MBOX“
- Select the soft key under “ADD‘
- Enter the mailbox number (extension # you want to add)
- Mailbox type – Subscriber and select “OK“
- Extension – same as the mailbox
- Service Class = 1
- Name = enter the user name
- Directory = Y (YES)
- Message Waiting = Y (YES)
- Out Dial = Pool, enter 1 and then OK ( however I am using in my setup NONE, because if someone hacks you voice mail account they will be able to call out and abuse your lines – this is like backdoor to your voice mail )
- Accept = 1, Select OK
- Now the voice mail mailbox is ready for use with default password = 0000
Delete a Mailbox
- Once you are logged in the System Aedministration
- Select the soft key under “MAILBOX“
- Select the soft key under “DEL“
- Enter the mailbox number (extension)
- Select the soft key under “DELETE“
- Mailbox has been now deleted and removed from your system

I followed directions to delete mailbox but the announcement still gives the name and number and you can still leave messages there. So I tried to the steps again now it says the number are gone. If someone could call and help me that would be great I’m here from 9 to 1 pm Monday thru Friday. Thanks
