Google Drive error :”An unknown issue occurred and Google Drive needs to quit.”

I have rebuild my computer with Windows 10and reinstall all software including brought back the Google Drive client. Google Drive started syncing and it was working for few hours till suddenly stopped. I forced sync again and suddenly I got and error:

Sorry, Google Drive needs to quit. An unknown issue occurred and Google Drive Needs to quit. Error:None

An you have only option to click QUICK button. So I have researched and found that Google has KB for this error and I have followed up the steps to fix it for good on my computer.

Apparently this can also happen on MAC not only PC and here are steps:

For Macs:

  1. Select “Quit Google Drive” from the sync client menu.
  2. In Finder select “Go” –> “Go to Folder…”.
  3. Enter this, exactly: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Drive
  4. Open the folder titled “cloud_graph”.
  5. Delete the file titled “dict_2.db”.
  6. Restart the desktop sync client.

For PCs:

  1. Select “Quit Google Drive” from the sync client menu.
  2. Select “Choose File”, and navigate to: %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Google\Drive
  3. Open the folder titled “cloud_graph”.
  4. Delete the file titled “dict_2.db”.
  5. Restart the desktop sync client.

    1. Press CTRL+R and in the run window copy: %Userprofile%AppDataLocalGoogleDrive – it will take you to the Google Drive under your user profile or you can navigate to the location by C:YOUR USER NAMEAppDataLocalZGoogleDrive – same place.

    1. I have checked my current MacOS and the path is correct: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Drive – if you do not have it — there is different problem, I would suggest to reinstall Google Drive on your machine.
