How to remove Palladium malware and fix schvost error ..

What is the Palladium .. well it is fake, bogus antivirus at least that what is trying to present itself once you got infected with this malware. It gets installed on your computer without additional permission as you are browsing different websites on the Internet. Once installed the fun just begins as it will slow down your computer and literally will take over the system and serving you with popup screens … This bogus anti-virus program belongs to the same rogue software family as Security Shield and Antivirus Action. It will start first with showing up messages/screens that it has detected a couple of viruses in your system. Palladium will essentially hijack your system and keep displaying misleading pop-ups. Palladium is deceptive and aims to lure you to purchase its full version by some fake security reports.

How to remove – manually or by help of Malwarebytes tool

Note: If you are not proficient with computer, it’s suggested that you backup your registry before manually removing Palladium Antivirus Virus. And double check the entries that you are going to delete, or your computer can’t work for missing some files.

End the following processes:
PalladiumPro.exe

Delete the following registry files:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun “Palladium”
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun “Palladium Pro”
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun “Palladium Antivirus”
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePalladium Pro

Delete the following files:
%ProgramFiles%Palladium ProPalladiumPro.exe
%Programs%StartupPalladium Antivirus.lnk
%Programs%Palladium AntivirusPalladium Antivirus.lnk

However if you are not computer savvy I would recommend these steps that I am susually do to remove this pest from computers 🙂

1. Download this great took – Malwarebytes and save it on USB key
2. Boot your computer into Safe Mode by pressing F8
3. Once booted into Windows, insert the USB key with Malwarebytes and install the software on your computer
4. Run the Malwarebytes scan on your system and remove all found infections from the system
5. Reboot your system to normal mode, once back in normal mode, re run the Malwarebytes scan and remove the rest

Once you have removed the malware you have another issues => schvost.exe error popup on your screen something like this:

Schvost.exe: encounter error 0x00c896bc refferenced the instruction at memory 0x00000000. The memory could not be written ..

This is expected as the malware has damaged few registry keys on your Windows and as well has disabled MS update .. first to correct this you will need to go to START > RUN and type in services.msc to start these stopped services:

1. Automatic Updates
2. Background Intelligent Transfer Services

Now you should be able to run MS Updates, update your Windows with the latest available patches, rescan your computer with updated antivirus so you make sure your system is up to date and healthy. Reboot your system if you still getting the schvost.exe error, go to START > RUN and type msconfig and press ENTER.

Once System configuration windows shows up, click on tab Startup and uncheck unfamiliar applications so you will prevent them to start up once your system boots in… It means that some of the application and the referenced registry keys are corrupted so every time when you boot up your system it tries to load but fails and generates this schvost error on your system.

Good Luck with your removal !
