How to prevent access to Windows Store in Windows 8

  • Sign in as the Administrator
  • Press the Windows + R key to open the Run box
  • Type gpedit.msc and hit Enter
  • It should now open the Local Group Policy Editor
  • Navigate to this location: User ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsStore
  • Now Enable the settings to prevent access to the Windows Store
  • Close the Local Group Policy Editor
  • Run gpupdate/force from command line to refresh the new settings for policy on the machine

Once the refresh takes place, restriction to access the Windows store is in effect and user will see message that this is now allowed.
