How to merge duplicate contacts in MS Outlook 2007/2010/2013

Here is the situation. I have customers working with hosted [easyazon_link asin=”0672337037″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”wn0d5-20″] Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 [/easyazon_link] and they have [easyazon_link asin=”B00B1TFSSS” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”wn0d5-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”] Outlook [/easyazon_link] contacts in sync with the [easyazon_link asin=”1849688826″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”wn0d5-20″] CRM [/easyazon_link]. However what I did not know, once you reinstall computer and reconnect your Outlook to [easyazon_link asin=”B00DN3KHFY” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”wn0d5-20″] CRM [/easyazon_link], all contacts are being resync again. This will create too many duplicates. Also customers got too many duplicates of contacts now in their Outlook. This just creating big mess on both sides of the table. Regardless how the customer got to this trouble, I have to fix it.

Quickly search revealed that there is not easy way to merge duplicate accounts in Outlook. Be more top the point this functionality is not existent. I was able to find one  How-to provided by MSOUTLOOK.info, however this seems to me to be really too much work for simple task.

The easiest way I can say is to get this FREE tool for personal use .. this tool is standalone application and it works like promised. You click on it, will close your Outlook and run trough the contacts. Once the task completed, you will end up in your Outlook with 3 contacts folders – your original Contacts, Found Duplicates and Merged Contacts. Simple, fast and you can sort out your contacts in 5 minutes :-). This is great as if you are not happy with the merge – you still have untouched original contacts in your Outlook.

The tool I am mentioning is call OutlookSearchandMerge created by ANSURA.net. Checked out the site, they have few more great tools.

Results will look like this:

There are other tools – not free that I have not tested:

Note: I have tested the tool with MS Outlook 2007, [easyazon_link asin=”0538475307″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”wn0d5-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”] Microsoft Outlook 2010 [/easyazon_link] and [easyazon_link asin=”0735671273″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”wn0d5-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”] Microsoft Outlook 2013 [/easyazon_link]
