How to disable Flash in Chrome, IE, Safari, Opera and Firefox browser

Due the last few days news about issues with Adobe Flash out there, it is good idea to disable or remove Flash from your browser till the vendor come up with solution or patch to fix the vulnerabilities.

Chrome browser:

  1. Open browser
  2. type chrome://plugins
  3. Scroll down and click DISABLE under Adobe Flash Player (version 18.0.0.209)

Internet Explorer:

  1. Run IE
  2. Click the gear icon
  3. Click Internet Options
  4. Click Programs Tab
  5. Click on Manage add-ons
  6. Under Toolbars and Extensions – click on Shockwave Flash Object
  7. Right-click or click the button Disable

IE

Firefox:

  1. Update your browser to the latest version
  2. Firefox is now blocking Flash by default

Fox

Safari:

  1. Run Safari
  2. Go to Preference > Security
  3. Uncheck Enable Plug-ins
  4. Close the dialogue box
  5. Hit F5 to refresh

Opera:

  1. Run Opera
  2. Press F12
  3. Uncheck Enable Plug-ins
  4. Close the Dialogue box
  5. Hit F5 to refresh

Of course if you are running infrastructure such as Active Directory, you can use GPO to disable FLASH on your network – here is how to do it with Group Policy Object. If you are running JAMF- Casper server — simple to push down on your Macs a script.
