We have a new laptop that came with I[easyazon-link asin=”B009GAR648″ locale=”us”] Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 [/easyazon-link] built-in card. We have installed latest build of [easyazon-link asin=”0132757273″ locale=”us”] Fedora 17 [/easyazon-link] on the machine and all seems to be installed and in working order except one small issue. Wireless network connection experiencing a problem. Fedora 17 can see available wireless networks by SSID but cannot connect. Trying to connect from Windows to the same wireless network — it does work, trying to connect to the same wireless network from[easyazon-link asin=”111821854X” locale=”us”] Fedora 17 [/easyazon-link]- it does not work.
After a while of research it seems that this card has a problem with[easyazon-link asin=”0596154488″ locale=”us”] Linux [/easyazon-link] but the problem is fixable. Here are steps how to fix it and and once done, you should be able to not only see but also connect to any wireless network 🙂
su gedit /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
You will need to find these 2 lines and change to this in this configuration file:
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=0
Once you have changed these two lines, restart services or reboot your machine and you should be now able not only see but also connect and use any wireless network around you.
